Judges 6

Judges 6 reminds us that God calls the unlikely to accomplish the impossible. Like Gideon, we may feel unqualified — but when we trust and obey, God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness.

Judges 6:1  “And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.”

1 / 10

Who did the Lord deliver Israel into the hands of because of their disobedience?

Judges 6:6  “And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD.”

2 / 10

What did the Israelites do when they were greatly impoverished by the Midianites?

Judges 6:8–10  “That the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt… but ye have not obeyed my voice.”

3 / 10

God sent a prophet to remind Israel of His deliverance and their disobedience.

Judges 6:11  “And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak… and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.”

4 / 10

Where was Gideon when the angel of the LORD appeared to him?

Judges 6:12  “And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.”

5 / 10

What title did the angel use when greeting Gideon?

Judges 6:21  “Then the angel of the LORD put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes.”

6 / 10

What sign did Gideon ask from the angel to prove God was with him?

Judges 6:25  “Take thy father’s young bullock… and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it.”

7 / 10

What was Gideon commanded to do that same night?

Judges 6:32  “Therefore on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal plead against him, because he hath thrown down his altar.”

8 / 10

What new name was Gideon given after he tore down Baal’s altar?

Judges 6:36–37  “And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said, behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor…”

9 / 10

Gideon was immediately confident in God’s plan and needed no further signs.

Judges 6:37–40  “If the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know… And it was so… And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me… let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew.”

10 / 10
